Sackett Systems is currently seeking a full-time Steel Layout Production Associate to join our team in Bensenville, IL, conveniently located near O’Hare Airport. A Steel Layout Production Associate is an integral part of our manufacturing team, building the frames of our high-quality, robust battery changing equipment and systems.

The Layout/Fabricator receives raw material of steel and cuts, bends, punches and otherwise prepares the material for furthering processing. Completes work in a safe and timely manner.


This position reports to the Production Foreman

Position Summary:

Receives raw material and cuts, bends, punches and otherwise prepares the material for further processing. Completes work in a safe and timely manner

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives steel deliveries.
  • Prepares material for next steps in manufacturing.
  • Maintains stock of common parts used in manufacturing.
  • Performs preventative maintenance procedures on equipment.
  • Reading of bill of materials and drawings
  • Work efficiently by using best practices, equipment and methods.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Punches in and out of work orders accurately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; certificate or Associates Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of metal properties, operational sequences, and machine programming.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Must be able to communicate in English

Employment Type & Work Environment

  • Full-time; 6:45 A.M. – 3:15 P.M.
  • Industry: Manufacturing, Material Handling, Warehouse
  • Warehouse environment requiring safety glasses, steel toed shoes; hearing protection is recommended
  • No direct reports

Employee will be subject to warehouse environment, cold temperatures of 40 degrees , and will be required to wear jacket. Noise levels of 90 decibels can be reached at certain times. Can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles while in manufacturing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
