Manufacturing Engineer

Position Summary:

The Mechanical design Engineer provides responsive Technical Support to external customers and Engineering Support to Sales and Manufacturing.  In this role, partners with production to design changes with product to maximize manufacturability. Develop strategies to improve efficiency and profit.  Develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be point person for all Technical Assistance calls – need to respond with urgency within target one hour
  • Generate PLO drawings for Sales personnel in a timely manner, 24 hour window target
  • Support Drawing Packet generation for all manufactured product, publish CAD drawings into Production Print Room for manufacturing access to drawings
  • Update manufacturing drawings for clarity and corrections based on feedback from manufacturing
  • Work instructions – develop for all product to be included in Drawing Packets
  • Coordinate and develop new product plans with the management team
  • Design and Support production of new product prototypes
  • Conduct training and presentations on production procedures and processes
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible productivity enhancements
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
  • Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.
  • Coordinate and develop production plans with the production management team
  • Organize job training for staff in order to attain production objectives
  • Maintain Quality log entries based on emails in Quality Mailbox

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.

Mathematical Ability: Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:  Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP system (NetSuite), Engineering: AutoCad, Inventor
